Martha NewsA lawsuit demanding more than $74,000 is not a good thing.

A consultant who helps pick juries and devise trial tactics has filed a lawsuit against Martha Stewart, saying the domestic diva owes her $74,047 for services provided before Stewart’s trial for lying to federal officials.

Julie Blackman, who operates her own trial strategy consulting firm, says in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court that she was hired by Stewart lawyer Robert G. Morvillo on July 15, 2003, to help plan Stewart’s defense.

Martha NewsMartha Stewart’s newest magazine -- which the company has so far kept under wraps -- will be called Blueprint and cater to 30-somethings and their interest in their first homes.

While Blueprint aims to exploit a niche not served by Time4Media’s This Old House or Meredith’s Country Home or other home-centric books, most of which have readers with median ages around 45 or older, it could directly threaten Conde Nast Publications’ new younger-skewing Domino.

Martha NewsJust received in the new Classic Martha DVD's from Warner Brothers Home Video. Wonderful stuff. The dvd's are packaged with a nice menu that allows you to quickly watch small 5 minute gems from some Martha shows of the past. Just finished checking out Martha's Classic Thanksgiving and will be trying out the Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti very soon as well as tempted to try the Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Vinaigrette tomorrow on the inlaws. Three DVDs we viewed are:

  • Martha's Classic Thanksgiving
  • Martha's Favorite Family Dinners
  • Martha's Homemade Holidays

    Couple of clips:

  • An elegant table setting
  • Sweet potato pie

Would make great stocking stuffers...Yes, sucking up to Martha and Warner Brother's...but these DVDs really are good for the Martha fan. I can see my family easily wearing them out looking for that one recipe we remember from years ago.

Friends of MarthaI wanted to write to Martha when she was in prison. I figured she'd have time to read my story, but I didn't write. It's crazy what our judicial system has come to. We lost in district court, a case that was plainer than day. We were not paid fairly for work we did. In the absence of a contract the judge should have ruled quantum meruit ( fair pay for the value of one's services). A supposed contract (prepared by the contractor) did not include pricing, location of work, etc. Those are essential elements of a contract. They must be easily comprehended. The contractor mislead us, the subcontractor, into believing that pricing was determinable or forthcoming. Then he withheld pricing until the work was completed. In the end we had to pay him for a job well done. In other words he paid us about 1/2 of what the job was work, so we lost money. There were absolutely no issues with the quality of our work. The superior and supreme courts upheld the lower courts' rulings. Very disturbing, very. It's sad that I will not be able to afford to take this to U.S. Supreme Court. If I was a murderer however, an attorney would be appointed me. How ironic. I'm desperate to get my story out. I've tried many agencies. They are all just a front. They won't help.

Martha NewsMost optimists can take the lemons life gives them and make lemonade, but some, like Martha Stewart, can transform lemons into sweet and tangy sauces to add savor to ordinary dishes like gingerbread and bread pudding.

In ''The Martha Rules," the domestic diva adds that kind of sauce to an otherwise commonplace offering of advice for wannabe entrepreneurs. The sauce in this instance is references to Stewart's five months in a federal women's prison. The gingerbread is Stewart's recipe for business success.

''In 2004, I entered a federal prison camp in Alderson, West Virginia. There, amidst a thousand or so women, were hundreds of young, middle-aged, and older women who had dreams of starting a business when they were released. Many of them came to me to express their passion, their hopes, and their ideas. They were so like the myriad people who write to me with their ideas, seeking guidance, advice, hard facts, and a road map to a successful business," Stewart writes.

Martha News“The Apprentice: Martha Stewart“ cancelled

NBC announced that "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" will not be renewed for another season.

With the buzz concerning Stewart's release from prison "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" was heavily promoted as part of NBC's fall schedule. However, right from the start, the show did not bring in the expected number of viewers executive producer Mark Burnett had hoped for.

However, both NBC and Burnett said Monday that the mediocre ratings had nothing to do with the short run.

Stewart Planned to Bump Trump From Show Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Martha NewsBefore her version of "The Apprentice" began, Martha Stewart thought she was saying "you're fired" to Donald Trump.

While "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" hasn't done well in the ratings, Stewart initially had much higher hopes _ even that her NBC show would eclipse Trump's original.

"I thought I was replacing The Donald," Stewart says in the Nov. 14 issue of Fortune magazine, on newsstands Nov. 7. "It was even discussed that I would be firing The Donald on the first show."

When did Trump learn that she intended to bump him off his own show? "I don't think he ever knew," Stewart tells the magazine.

Stewart has advice for inmates Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Friends of MarthaEx-con and domestic diva Martha Stewart says she was happy to give advice to fellow inmates during her five months behind bars for lying to authorities about a stock sale.

"They have a lot of time to think and plan for the future, and they should be encouraged to," the 64-year-old lifestyle guru said.

"In many of these institutions there are no consultants, no real teachers to help these women, some of whom are incarcerated for 20 years. I was happy to be of use."
